33 – Blog for yourself, not someone else

Are you a blogger? No matter what you’re blogging about, whether it be development like my own or something that you’re passionate about, always blog for yourself.

A fair few years ago when I was still a student at university, Rob Miles, a lecturer of mine at the time, encourage me and many other students to start blogging. I’ve written so many posts on the reasons why people should write and the benefits you’ll see from doing it but one thing that stuck in my mind was what Rob told me when I started my blogging venture back in 2011. He said that I should post for myself and in my own time. Blogs are an incredible platform for sharing knowledge and by taking part, you’re making a difference to those looking for that knowledge but don’t write to your blog because you feel that you owe it to your readers to be there constantly. If people are dedicated in that way to what you’re writing about, they will stick around while you take a break or while you’re busy working on projects. Your blog is your own and you’re the one that makes it that way. Just remember that it’s there and whenever you learn something new or think you’ve got something the blog about, get it up on there and share it.

Keep blogging!
